lovely hotel right in the center of old town. Comfortable and clean. Small room but enough for 1 person. Walk in shower was a good size. Had safe, lots of electrical outlets. Included a good breakfast. Would stay again.

The location was nice - it's located 10 minutes from the train station and in a good location to walk around and see the city. It feels like its in a safe area as well. The restaurant was also good, if a little pricey. We booked a double room, and asked for two twin beds. The room we were given didn't really allow us to push the beds apart (we had to get creative to do this). The room itself was kind of small and shaped interestingly so it felt even smaller (not super surprising with a older hotel). The air conditioner didn't really work, so it was quite warm in the room even though we were in the 4th floor. The windows don't have screens (which I think is a Europe thing), so opening the window felt kind of weird (didn't want bugs or a bird to fly in). It was also pretty loud - we could hear people talking and yelling pretty late into the night from the street below. The bathroom had a frosted glass door, which would be okay if going with as a couple but I was with a friend. Overall not horrible, but not the best either.

My wife and I spent an evening last week. On arrival, we were "upgraded" to a room with a balcony. Which was very nice until we discovered it was on the first floor just above the restaurant. The noise wasn't bad, but it was noticeable. We didn't ask to change, but we probably would have prefered to stay in the room we had booked and avoid the noise. But the hotel is clean, the service is friendly and efficient and our room was welll furnished. Not great value for money given the astronomical prices in Zurich, but priced correctly.

They apologized for their remodeling both in the lobby, and the street repairs going on outside, and bent over backwards to do a great job! Comfortable rooms and a wonderful staff. Highly recommend this hotel. Great transition point between travel in Europe or the U.S. and Zermatt.
